Human bone fragments were found in the excavation carried out with the statement of 3 suspects, who were taken into custody after the evidence was found that two brothers who disappeared in Ankara in 2012 and 2013 were killed as a result of murder.

According to the written statement made by the Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, new evidence has been found that Oğulcan Bertan Karaoğlu, born in 1990, who was filed for missing on January 1, 2012, and his brother Özgür Çağkan Barış Karaoğlu, born in 1995, who was reported to have disappeared in 2013, were murdered.

Under the coordination of the Chief Prosecutor’s Office, a special team was formed in March this year by the Ankara Police Department Public Security Branch Murder Bureau and the work was started.

AT, FG and İ.T., who were determined to be related to the disappearance of the two brothers. was followed. The suspects were taken into custody on 8 October after telephone conversations regarding the murder of the two brothers were identified.

After the suspects confessed that they killed two brothers and buried them in a hobby garden in Orta Bereket District of Ankara’s Ayaş district, excavations were started by the Murder Bureau and Crime Scene Investigation teams, accompanied by the Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor and the Public Prosecutor.

Human bone fragments were found during excavations. In its first examination, the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor found that a corpse was cremated and buried, covered with ceramics, and layers of soil were poured over it. Excavations were started in the same garden for the other body.

Samples taken from the wall of the house in the hobby garden shown by the suspects were also sent for examination to detect traces of murder.

Proceedings of the suspects in custody are continuing.
