Publisher Assemble Entertainment announces the new Metroidvania Mira and the Legend of the Djinns. Developed by Little Knight Games, the 2D pixel art Metroidvania is heavily inspired by Moroccan and Amazigh culture and will be released in 2023 for PC. “Mira and the Legend of the Djinns” also ran a successful Kickstarter campaign, raising $24,000 from 600 backers. As part of this year’s Guerrilla Collective 3, the announcement trailer for “Mira and the Legend of the Djinns” was presented exclusively via live stream.
“Mira and the Legend of the Djinns” offers classic Metroidvania features such as crisp boss fights, varied biomes, four different weapons with countless unlockable combos and special attacks, artifacts and items, an unused setting reminiscent of “Prince Of Persia” and an exciting and spiritual Story about the protagonist Yuba and his companion Mira – a dshinn.
The focus of the story about “Mira and the Legend of the Djinns” is the adventurer Yuba, who finds Mira on his travels – the first Djinn mankind has ever seen in generations. But Mira seems to have no memories of her past or of the catastrophe that plunged the kingdom of Amazgesh into chaos. Yuba decides to help Mira and enters into a spiritual alliance with her. The two travel together through the devastated and ruined world of Amazgesh to find their lost memories and find out what happened to their country and its people. In classic 2D Metroidvania style, Mira and Yuba traverse the vast expanses of the desert ocean, meeting new friends and vicious foes along the way. Together, the two track down priceless artifacts, explore dangerous ruins, battle mutated creatures and corrupted spirits, and confront the cause of the cataclysm that destroyed Mira’s world and gave birth to Yuba’s world.
