Microsoft Store recovery option

31. May 2022 –
It should soon be possible to quickly restore apps installed on a device from the Microsoft Store to a new or newly installed device with a restore option.

Microsoft is working on a recovery feature for apps from the Microsoft Store. Although it was previously possible to restore individual apps that were already installed on another device, it was not possible to restore all previously installed apps, as “Windows Latest” reports. As soon as the feature, which is currently in development, has been implemented in the store, a selective or partial reinstallation of all apps will be possible. With the restore apps function, either all previously installed applications or a list of selected applications can be reinstalled with one click. This should be particularly exciting when buying a second device or setting up a new computer.

The new developments for the Microsoft Store appear to be in line with Microsoft’s plan to better position the application store, which has had little success in recent years. 32-bit applications are now also available, and Android apps can also be downloaded and used on Windows 11 via the Amazon App Store available in the Microsoft Store. However, the latter function is only available for test users in the USA so far. (win)
