Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase am 13. Juni 2021 – (C) Microsoft, Xbox
Redmond, USA – One more development studio under the Xbox Game Studios banner? For the past 2 years Microsoft busy shopping. Most recently the mega-deal with Bethesda. A “shake of power” as one would say in the Star Wars language. After all, game brands like the upcoming Starfield, The Elder Scrolls, DOOM and Fallout are now under the Xbox flag. On the E3 2021 we could develop studio Number 24 from Xbox experience. Or even a whole video game publisher like SEGA – as speculative images of the Microsoft marketing boss at the end of 2020 suggested?
After E3 2020 had to be canceled due to COVID-19, the big digital Xbox & Bethesda Show will follow in 2021. Microsoft is the attraction of the E3 show. We’ll likely also learn more about what the Bethesda acquisition means for the company and talk about upcoming titles, particularly Halo Infinite.
Jez Corden, Windows Central reporter and Microsoft insider, suggests we might see another studio acquisition at E3 2021.
E3 2021 speculation about another studio takeover by Microsoft
The Twitter user Idle Sloth shared posts from Corden, who has detailed information on Microsoft and Xbox projects, and talked about the alleged takeover. So should Microsoft “Have acquired multiple intellectual property rights”. He sees this as a “good chance” that one or more studios will be taken over.
Apparently, however, these are likely to be smaller game brands. So also a smaller studio? On June 13th, 2021, that speculation will be over when us Microsoft and particularly Phil Spencer informs about it. So far you have been in Redmond, the Microsoft headquarters, do not let them look into the cards. The speculation of Idle Sloth remains “speculative”.
Xbox on a shopping spree
Regardless of the size of the studio you would Microsoft to continue his series of purchases. Everything for the Xbox Game Pass! Obsidian, Playground, Ninja Theory and, most recently, Bethesda including id Software and Co. All these sounding names in the video game industry will in future appear exclusively on Xbox, i.e. for PC and Xbox consoles. The last Sony deals with Bethesda like Deathloop are running out. But also Starfield was in the focus of PlayStation, as Leaks claimed.
The main reason for the buying frenzy of Xbox should have been understood by all gamers. The growing Xbox Game Pass should become even more attractive. 2021 should be the “biggest year” so far, if Phil Spencer is right. In the end, it is still up to the players themselves to decide what they want to gamble.
