Recently, rumors were circulating that a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater could be in the works. These now receive new nourishment.
Earlier speculation suggested that the China-based development studio Virtuos could have been entrusted with work on a remake of the stealth classic. And that same studio is now providing further nourishment for the rumor.
Zhiyang Li, the studio’s lead programmer, made an interesting note on his LinkedIn profile. Although he does not mention a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 by name, work on an “unannounced AAA action-adventure game remake” is listed in his activity log.
According to the entry, Li himself was involved in the work on the project for around nine months; this very work could have started as early as October 2018. Another piece of information in this context says that the project must inevitably support 4K image output.
This is of course not a confirmation of a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, but the project description fits only too well with the previous rumors and with that Konami classic. Virtuos has already worked on such projects in the past and worked on Dark Souls Remastered, for example. In addition, they were also involved in the switch port of The Outer Worlds or other well-known projects such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
