The choice will not appease the climate of incomprehension which reigns in the Marseille cultural community regarding the new municipal team. In 2024, the programming and engineering of the Marseille Summer, a flagship event in the events policy of left-wing mayor Benoît Payan, will be carried out by the Lyon company B-PM. In this Olympic year, where it is hosting the Paris 2024 sailing and football events, Marseille has chosen to entrust its entire summer project to this artistic consulting agency co-led by Pierre-Marie Oullion, one of the founders of the Lyon festival. Nuits Sonores, and Baptiste Pinsard, its artistic director. This cooperative company – in partnership with the Taverne Gutenberg association, also based in Lyon – was appointed following a market with an adapted procedure (mapa) launched on September 30 and closed on November 6, 2023.

Created in 2020, the Marseille Summer, which includes cultural, sporting and leisure components, is experiencing growing success. In 2023, free shows by the National Ballet of Marseille, rapper Soolking and Enrico Macias on the floating stage moored in the Old Port, attracted tens of thousands of people.
In December 2023, in his office, Benoît Payan welcomed this success and outlined the prospect of a cultural season that he hoped would see strong growth but still be rooted in the local fabric. “The Marseille Summer costs a lot of money and will cost more and more because we want it to change dimension (…) And if I want to gain momentum, I will do it with local actors with collective ownership of this event”assured the mayor of Marseille, while noting the state of a “the world of culture is in great pain and is very attentive to what we do.”
“A specialized service provider”
If, in the market specifications, the municipality took care to specify that “the artistic proposal must include local artists”its choice of a service provider from outside the city to design the 5th edition of Marseille Summer contradicts the stated desire to support local stakeholders. “The ramp-up of programming in quality and quantity requires a specialized service provider (…) The B-PM-Taverne Gutenberg group was the only respondent to the call for tenders »we justify at the town hall, where we nevertheless assure that a larger number of candidates, particularly local, “would have been appreciated”.

The collapse of the bridge over the Mucoso River, in the Municipality of Cambambe, Dondo Commune, cut off road traffic between the provinces of Huambo, Cuanza Sul, Cuanza Norte (Dondo) and Luanda.
Speaking this Tuesday, 27th, to Angop, the provincial director of Cuanza Norte of the National Institute of Roads of Angola (INEA) blames the exploitation of sand around the infrastructure for the landslide at the bridge’s abutments.
“The erosion process of the bridge’s abutments was caused by the removal of the stones that served to protect the soil and to dampen the force of the intermittent river waters”, said Miguel Nelembe.
The provincial director of INEA said that, at this moment, “equipment is being mobilized, with the support of companies in the construction sector that operate in the city of Dondo, with the aim of replacing the embankment at the bridge abutments”, but, however, he informed that “the work could last 10 days, during which time traffic on that road will be interrupted”.
“Given the characteristics of the river itself and the surrounding areas, which are completely submerged, it is not possible to find an alternative route in Dondo,” he said.
As a result, road traffic between the city of Dondo, municipality of Cambambe (Cuanza Norte) and the rest of the country is currently banned. The connection between Luanda and the southern, northern and eastern provinces of the country, passing through Dondo, is also interrupted.
Sixty meters long and 12 meters wide, Miguel Nelembe also reported that, recently, the bridge was the subject of “a study by the Ministry of Public Works and Construction to reinforce the intermediate pillar, due to the damage suffered to its structure”.
Alternative Routes
The guidance given by INEA is that motorists have the alternative of using the Maria Teresa/Caxilo/Ndalatando/AltoDondo route, passing through Binda hill, on the Luanda/Dondo route.
Motorists coming from the south of the country have the option of diverting at Alto Dondo and passing through Morro do Binda to get to Luanda.

“I feel terrified…and shocked.” With these words, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and European Union foreign policy official Joseph Borrell expressed their shock at the killing of 110 Palestinians during an aid distribution operation in the “Nabulsi Roundabout” in northern Gaza at dawn yesterday, Thursday, according to a Ministry tally. Palestinian health in the Gaza Strip.
Guterres said that the killing of more than 100 people seeking humanitarian aid is a matter that requires an independent and effective investigation.
He also added that he was “shocked” by the latest developments in the Israeli war in Gaza.
In response to questions about the failure of a recent Security Council resolution that sought a ceasefire in the Strip, the UN official said that the worsening geopolitical divisions “turned the veto into an effective tool to paralyze the work of the Security Council.”
“Another massacre”
In turn, Borrell expressed in a tweet on his account on the
He stressed that these deaths are completely unacceptable, adding that “depriving people of food aid is a serious violation of international humanitarian law.”
These denunciations came as the Israeli army published a video of what it said showed crowds of northern Gaza residents flocking to relief trucks and surrounding them, which led to a stampede and chaos, with the trucks running over civilians, as it claimed.
Video ignites a whirlwind
Note that a spokesman had previously acknowledged that the army had opened fire on some groups that approached the trucks and posed a threat to its members and soldiers. He also explained at the same time that some people fell as a result of crowding.
Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath correspondent also confirmed earlier that Israeli forces opened fire on civilians in the “Nabulsi Roundabout” southwest of Gaza City, pointing out that dozens of wounded and dead were taken to hospitals.
However, Israel’s publication of this video turned against it, as it ignited a wave of criticism on social media. Many of those who watched the clip published by the army spokesman, Avichay Adraee, on his account on the X platform yesterday, commented that this is the clearest proof of the starvation policy pursued by the Israeli forces in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The video, taken by an Israeli drone from the air, showed hundreds of people walking around trucks along the Al-Rashid coastal road in Gaza.
However, the video published by the Israeli army “without sound” showed the presence of multiple clips connected together, leaving the scene ambiguous about the period before the crowds rushed to flee and escape, and some people crawled behind the walls, as if they were taking cover.
At least a dozen bodies appeared on the ground at the scene of the accident, according to a video clip, according to the New York Times.
Also, two Israeli military vehicles appeared at the site.
On the other hand, another clip spread among many Palestinians on social media, documenting hearing gunfire near civilians.
Yesterday, the spokesman for the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, Ashraf Al-Qudra, announced the latest toll of 112 deaths and 760 injuries as a result of what he described as Israeli targeting of Palestinians who were waiting for aid in western Gaza City.
It is noteworthy that approximately 300,000 Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip have been deprived of the entry of United Nations relief trucks for about a month, amid international and UN warnings of the specter of famine looming over thousands of Gazans who have been suffocatingly besieged since the outbreak of war on the seventh of last October.
