- Markus Gisdol has a new coaching job.
- The former coach of 1. FC Köln is staying in Russia – at Ralf Rangnick’s club.
Ralf Rangnick, who has been the sports director of three-time Russian soccer champions Lokomotiv Moscow since the summer, has installed an old friend as a trainer. According to the club, Markus Gisdol will be head coach at the capital club “in the near future”. Gisdol had last coached 1. FC Köln, but was released after a home defeat against 1. FSV Mainz 05 in April.
With Gisdol there are now two former Bundesliga coaches in the Russian Premier League. Sandro Schwarz had already taken over the coaching position at Dynamo Moscow in October 2020. Gisdol has a slightly more difficult starting position than his German colleague with the reigning cup winners: Dynamo is currently in second place with 19 points, Lokomotive in fifth place with 17 points. After ten match days, the leader is Zenit St. Petersburg with 23 points. (dpa / afp / sap)
