Travis Stackhouse was sentenced to 20 years in prison this Tuesday, June 29 for the crime against his son whom he killed after he ate a ‘cheesecake’ that was part of his father’s day gift.

The incident that ended with the 5-year-old boy’s death occurred in June 2019, when Stackhouse punched his son in the stomach and punched him in the face because he ate his Father’s Day cheesecake.

The child’s mother noticed that something was wrong with the child and called the emergency service, but the paramedics could not do anything to save his life.

In his initial statements to the police, Stackhouse claimed that his son had fallen down the stairs while playing with one of his brothers and that he later complained that his stomach hurt so they called for emergency service. However, the police did not believe that the injuries were compatible with the father’s version and concluded that the minor had died from a blunt wound to the abdomen, the police report stated that he had had an abdominal tear, bruised kidneys and a ruptured adrenal gland.

The man was taken into custody by the authorities and finally last May, after a long judicial process, He accepted the charges of reckless murder in the second degree, neglect of a child, child abuse, and intentionally harming a minor.

Stackhouse’s sentence, handed down by a court in Milwaukee, United States, also included an additional eight years of extended supervision after he is released from prison.

“Basically in Milwaukee County, everyone shrugs off homicides. Nobody cares, ”Judge David Borowski declared during sentencing. “Occasionally, people care about child homicides because they are so horrible and heinous and so heartbreaking that occasionally the community, the people of Milwaukee County and others really care about homicides when children are killed. “

The judge declared that Stackhouse’s behavior was abominable, that it was a terrible situation.

“The average person who finds out about this case cannot understand how he would hit or hit a living human being as badly as he did in this case, let alone his own child.”said the judge. How can you live with yourself for a day? I do not get it”.

Prosecutors had requested that Judge Borowski sentence Stackhouse to 21 years in prison. But the judge took into account that Stackhouse eventually confessed and stopped the trial to plead guilty.

Stackhouse is the father of four other children who are in their mother’s custody.
