Malkin hits twice on his season debut
What a comeback for Evgeni Malkin when his Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-1. The 35-year-old Russian scored two goals in his first game of the season (2-0 and 3-1) and also did the preparatory work for the 4-1 result by Jeff Carter, who also scored twice. Malkin underwent knee surgery during the summer break and was therefore not able to play a game before. The Penguins (47 points) celebrated their ninth win in the last ten games and are only three points behind leaders Carolina Hurricanes (50) in the Metropolitan Division. Boston Bruins fans can look forward to the return of goalkeeper Tuukka Rask. The 34-year-old Finn underwent hip surgery in the summer and has been in rehab since then. He has been training with the Bruins team for some time and most recently had a trial contract with farm team Providence Bruins, where he was unable to gain match practice as planned due to game cancellations. Now he has reached an agreement with Boston on a one-year contract with a salary of one million dollars. A precise statement as to when Rask will be between the Bruins’ posts for the first time is not yet known. He won the Stanley Cup with the Bruins as a substitute goalkeeper in 2011 and failed as number one in the 2013 and 2019 finals.

Superstar Jack Eichel was on the ice with the Vegas Golden Knights for the first time on Tuesday after his disc surgery. However, Eichel is only allowed to increase the intensity slowly and is currently training contactless. The 25-year-old moved from the Buffalo Sabers to Vegas in early November due to disagreements about the treatment method for his herniated disc. The American last played an NHL game on March 7, 2021. In six seasons he scored 355 points (139 goals, 216 assists) in 375 games for Buffalo. It is not yet known when the center forward will be able to make his comeback.

Evander Kane could soon be back in action at his new place of work: Ken Holland, General Manager of Edmonton Oilers, has confirmed discussions with Kane’s consultant.
