Lukaku debut but Roma ko: Milan pass at the Olimpico

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Milan conquers the Olimpico and beats Roma 2-1 despite the numerical inferiority from the 61st minute due to the red light in Tomori. Two goals, one in each half from Giroud (penalty) and Leao, give Pioli’s Rossoneri nine points in the standings, while the Giallorossi – who scored in the final through Spinazzola – remain at one point. On the day that the market closes, there are five new faces on the pitch (Aouar, Paredes, Loftus-Cheek, Reijnders, Pulisic), but the most eagerly awaited – Romelu Lukaku – starts from the bench after his presentation at the Olimpico. Without Dybala (not called up) and with Pellegrini not at his best and out of the 11, Mourinho entrusts the attack to Belotti and El Shaarawy. But the start of the giallorossi is immediately uphill. In the 6th minute Loftus-Cheek enters the area and is knocked down by Rui Patricio. Rapuano goes to the Var and concedes the penalty that Giroud scores. In the 22nd minute Milan almost made it 2-0. Theo Hernandez’s cross from the left, Pulisic comes out on the opposite side but this time Rui Patricio instinctively deflects for a corner. At the stroke of the half hour, Mourinho lost Aouar due to injury, replaced by captain Pellegrini. In the first half, Roma never manages to worry Maignan. And after three minutes of recovery, Milan strikes: Calabria serves a cross in the area, Leao takes a position on Celik and beats Rui Patricio in an overhead kick. In the 51st minute Pioli’s men came close to making it 3-0. Theo Hernandez breaks through on the left and unloads, Leao rewards Loftus-Cheek but his shot is deflected for a corner. Milan is in control, but an episode rekindles the Olimpico. In the 61st minute Tomori extends Belotti at the entrance to the area and receives the yellow card: he is the second and the Rossoneri remain in 10. In the 70th minute Romelu Lukaku makes his debut in yellow and red. That the first ball touched can immediately change the result but his right foot, after a work by Belotti, is inaccurate. Pioli relies on Chukwueze and Okafor in place of Pulisic and Leao, while Pobega replaces Giroud. Milan is compact and does not allow passing lines. But in the final Spinazzola found the goal with a dirty right foot just enough to deceive Maignan. The last thrill was linked to a wrong exit from the Rossoneri goalkeeper and an inaccurate header from Bove. Milan have full points, Roma are already at -8. – LivePhotoSport photo – (ITALPRESS).
