Failed at Bayern, suddenly coveted in Lille

At FC Renato Sanches never got over the status of a super talent. After a season at Lille OSC, the Portuguese now seems more coveted than ever. The club president there confirms an offer in astronomical amounts.

Renato Sanches has experienced a lot at the age of 22. Four years ago, the midfielder alongside Cristiano Ronaldo became Portugal’s European champion.

FC Bayern had previously secured Sanches, which played a strong tournament, from Benfica Lisbon for 35 million euros. The transfer fee for the then 18-year-old could have increased to as much as 80 million if the performance had been successful.

Sanches won the championship twice with the Munich team and won the DFB Cup, but the Portuguese was never able to convince in three years.

He was only allowed to make 53 games for the German record champions between 2016 and 2019. In the meantime it was awarded to Swansea City; with the club he got off the Premier League.

70 million for Sanches?

Sanches has been playing for Lille OSC in France since 2019. The French paid around 20 million euros last summer. After a strong first season – Sanches scored four goals in 30 games – according to its president Gérard López, the club should have received gigantic offers for the former Bayern professional.
