On the occasion of the publication of the 25th Bond adventure No Time to Die, Leica Camera AG presents the Leica Q2 “007 Edition”. The camera, limited to 250 units, exudes – like James Bond – a simple elegance that is characterized by the minimalist design typical of Leica.
The top cap of this special edition of the Leica Q2 is adorned with the famous 007 logo, the lens cap is adorned with the no less well-known stylized pistol barrel. Each camera in the limited “007” edition is individually numbered, which makes it a coveted collector’s item. The Leica Q2 “007 Edition” is delivered in a custom-made, hand-made case, designed by the British luxury case brand Globe-Trotter – inspired by the custom-made cases from Globe-Trotter, which play a role in No Time to Die. Both the leather of the camera case and the leather upholstery of the camera are kept in the same ocean green.
The Leica and 007 partnership concept began with Michael G. Wilson. Wilson, who co-produces the James Bond film series with his sister Barbara Broccoli, is a leading expert on 19th century photography and founded the Wilson Center for Photography. Wilson’s passion for photography was the natural trigger for the collaboration.
As part of Leica’s partnership with the UK’s longest-running film franchise, Leica cameras have played a role both on set and behind the scenes. For No Time To Die, Leica worked with the 007 production team. On the set, James Bond’s Jamaica property was fitted with Leica cameras and the Leica Q2 was shown in Q’s London home.
The Leica Q2 “007 Edition” will be presented on September 9, 2021 at the official opening of the exhibition in the Leica Gallery in London: No Time To Die – Behind the Scenes, an exclusive photo exhibition with behind-the-scenes photographs taken with Leica cameras.
