Usually it’s cozy in Cafe Brändle in Unterägeri ZG. Thomas Brändle creates sweet temptations in the bakery while his guests enjoy the pies, cakes and pralines. But now the café owner has trouble with the judiciary. The landlord reported five police officers. Because of trespassing, coercion and abuse of office, as reported by “Zentralplus”.
Controversial point: the certificate requirement. Brändle defended himself against this from the start. He did not check his guests correctly and received a complaint from the Zug police at the end of September.
Now the confectioner turns the tables and again reports the officials. He accuses the police officers of entering his café without a search warrant and of harassing several guests in the course of the control. To make matters worse, the customers would have had to leave the store without a valid certificate.
He sees the rule of law damaged
A scandal for Brändle, who is now resisting it. “I regret the police officers who have to give themselves up for this unpleasant task,” he says to “Zentralplus”. He sees the certificate requirement and the controls a damage to the rule of law and does not want to put up with that.
In addition, it has not been proven that the risk of being infected is higher in a café or restaurant than in other places. Brändle: “That’s why I can’t shake my suspicion that our industry is being forced to become an accomplice of a stray government that wants to achieve a higher vaccination rate, even though it asserted in the spring that all measures would be lifted if all those willing to vaccinate are vaccinated. “

Is celebrated by Corona skeptics
The Zug police reject Brändle’s allegations. First of all, the officials would seek the conversation and point out the requirement for a certificate. “It is very important to us to proceed proportionately and with common sense,” said the Zug police to “Zentralplus”. And anyway, no search warrant is needed for the control. In general, most hosts would also adhere to the Corona rules.
Not so with Thomas Brändle. The corona skeptic scene celebrates his resistance. How the ad dispute will continue is still unclear. At Blick’s request, he does not want to comment on the matter. But there is still a chance to smooth things over. The pastry chef has an appointment to talk to Security Director Beat Villiger. It is not known when the meeting will take place. (jmh)
