Kyle Korver returns to Atlanta as a member of the front office!

Five years later, he returns to the franchise that saw him become one of the best 3-point shooters in history. If he is no longer a player, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Kyle Korver is about to join the front office from Atlanta. A new adventure, in which the boy will try to take the team even further than he did a few years ago.

This is news that has undoubtedly made more than one Hawks fan smile. After leaving Georgia for Ohio and Cleveland in 2017, he is a new member of the front office that Kyle Korver is making a comeback. Rather unexpected information, which was revealed to us last night by Shams Charania of The Athletic. As the insider reminds us in his tweet, the 41-year-old man has already played for the Aiglons for five seasons, from 2012 to 2017. An absolute darling of the fans, the sniper will have the best season of his career there in almost planting 3 shots from the parking lot per game at… 49.2% on average! A phenomenal performance, which earned KK the first – and only – All-Star Game selection of his career, in 2015. A member of the legendary 2003 Draft (51st choice), the latter retired in 2020 by stepping away from public life, in order to finally be able to spend time with his loved ones. He then made his big comeback to the NBA the following year, in 2021, when the Nets signed him as an assistant coach in charge of player development. A vague title, which actually covers an area in which Kyle has some basics: shooting. With only one season to go, it’s hard to judge the results of Korver’s work on Brooklyn youngsters like Nic Claxton, Kessler Edwards or… Ben Simmons, even if we can note that the franchise had a very positive balance sheet of the past year according to Chris Milholen of Nets Daily.

Still, we do not know precisely what role Kyle Korver will be assigned to Atlanta. If the offices know him since he was once exchanged for money used to buy… a photocopier, it wouldn’t be surprising to see your favorite sniper’s favorite sniper giving valuable basketball advice to his future padawans. Because the arrival of Korver is anything but a coincidence. Guided by the desire to go further in the Playoffs, the Hawks therefore brought back someone who knows the road well, he who had reached the Conference Finals on several occasions – including once with the Aiglons in 2015 – and even the Finals with the Cavs of 2017 and 2018. And then who would not be hyped by a backcourt Trae Young-Dejounte Murray placed under the leadership of a fine technician such as KK? It should be noted all the same that in this front office directed by Travis Schlenk, our shooter will find… Landry Fields, another sniper, recently promoted to the position of general manager of the franchise. A wind of change is therefore blowing over the city of Atlanta, which has clearly decided to spend the second to reach the heights of the Eastern Conference.

After leaving a declining franchise only five years ago, Kyle Korver returns to an ambitious team whose goal is now to get a ring. And even if the Hawks may not yet have all the weapons to become champion this year, it is clear that their reconstruction project was of rare efficiency. It remains to be seen if the former All-Star was the missing cog to allow the band in Trae to cross a new course.
