Khachaturyants announced plans to apply to law enforcement agencies with a statement against arbitrator Matyunin

The head of the refereeing committee and the president of the RPL, Ashot Khachaturyants, told RB Sport about his intention to apply to law enforcement agencies with a statement about the football referee Alexei Matyunin following the results of consideration of his actions in the match of the 26th round of the Russian championship between Khimki and Krylya Sovetov (4 :one).

The Expert Referee Commission (ESC) of the RFU admitted that referee Alexei Matyunin made two mistakes in the match between Wings of the Soviets and Khimki. The referee erroneously awarded a penalty kick to the gates of Samarans, and also incorrectly counted a goal into their gates. The media reported that after the match, the specialist failed a lie detector test.

– Arbitrator Matyunin did not pass the polygraph test?

– According to the rules of the RFU and the agreement with the arbitrators, we do not comment on the polygraph test and its results. I want to emphasize once again that a polygraph test is only an option and is not the main or only criterion for making a decision. However, I can say that a comprehensive review of refereeing in the Khimki-Krylya Sovetov match has been completed. It was established that during the match 9 significant mistakes were made in favor of Khimki and only one in favor of Krylya Sovetov (with the score 2:1 in favor of Khimki). I emphasize that I am talking only about errors that are significant for the course of the match and that affect the result of the match.

– What are the further actions of the refereeing committee, the refereeing department in relation to this referee?

– At present, the verification of Matyunin is ongoing. In order to avoid any discussion of a conflict of interest and my personal interest in the investigation of this case, I have recused myself and do not participate in the work of the ESC to analyze the quality of his refereeing. After completion of the check, analysis of all available information and the totality of all factors, the RFU Referee Committee decides on further cooperation with the arbiter. What will be the decision, positive or negative, time will tell. There are no questions for Pavel Shadykhanov now. He made an obvious mistake in checking Mirzov’s goal. All audio conversations and angles that VAR viewed when checking a goal have been studied. There is a serious mistake with the choice of angles (there were no views from the camera from behind the gate), because of which Pavel will miss several rounds and, I hope, will draw the right conclusions for the future.

– Do you intend to apply to the competent authorities, not related to football, for further proceedings on the work of the referee in the season?

— Yes, we plan to apply to law enforcement agencies, since we have enough doubts about the objective and unbiased refereeing, and the RFU as a public organization has exhausted the possibilities for further proceedings on this issue. We believe that law enforcement agencies will look into this situation.

– How did you react to the referee’s letters?

– Each subject of football has the right to apply to the RFU for the protection of their rights. As well as the referee committee of the RFU has the right to conduct the necessary checks in relation to the arbitrator, if there are grounds. I am ready to give any explanations to the competent authorities of the RFU on the issues raised in the complaint upon receipt of the relevant request,” Khachaturyants said.
