The last round

Arizona Coyotes – Nashville Predators 5:4

Roman Josi (Nashville): 1 assist, 6 shots, TOI 25:19 min.
Janis Moser (Arizona): 1 assist, 1 shot, TOI 21:14 min.

Roman Josi ends the NHL qualifying round with 96 scorer points. The Nashville Predators captain recorded an assist in the 5-4 loss to Arizona. Josi is the first defender in the league since 1992/93 to surpass 95 points. 29 years ago it was Phil Housley who even reached 97 points in the regular season. Now, with his assist, the 73rd of the season, the Bernese came within a point of the lead against the Coyotes in the first minute of the game.

The Predators led away in Arizona after a lightning start 4-0 (7th minute), but then collapsed. In the 42nd minute, the home team equalized to make it 4:4. Janis Moser added an assist on that goal. Nine minutes later, Arizona, who didn’t qualify for the playoffs, scored the winning goal in their last game of the season – and their last game at the Gila River Arena.

Nashville ended the 82-game qualifier with 97 points, one point behind the Dallas Stars. The Predators meet Colorado, the best team in the Western Conference with 119 points, in the first round of the playoffs. However, Josi’s team won three of the four games against the Avalanche in qualifying.

Minnesota Wild – Colorado Avalanche 4: 1

Kevin Fiala (Minnesota): 1 Schuss, TOI 22:16 Min.

Kevin Fiala, the second most successful Swiss player this season with 85 points, went without a goal or an assist in the last qualifying game. The striker won the home game against Colorado 4-1 with the Minnesota Wild and thus secured second place in the Western Conference. In the playoffs, Minnesota meets the St.Louis Blues in the round of 16.

New Jersey Devils – Detroit Red Wings 3:5

Nico Hischier (New Jersey): 1 assist, 2 shots, TOI 19:12 min.
Jonas Siegenthaler (New Jersey): not in the squad
Pius Suter (Detroit): 1 goal, 2 shots, TOI 20:00 min.

Nico Hischier finished the NHL season with 60 points. The captain of the New Jersey Devils, who recently had to sit out three games in a row due to illness, provided an assist in the 3-5 home defeat against Detroit. Pius Suter scored his 15th goal of the season for the Red Wings, whose season is also over (to 4:3 in the 51st minute).

Seattle Kraken – San Jose Sharks 3:0

Timo Meier (San Jose): 2 shots, TOI 21:23 min.
