Colombian left-handed pitcher José Quintana will join the Pirates after reaching a one-season deal, a source told MLB.com’s Jake Crouse. The pact would be for US $ 2 million.
The team has not confirmed the move, which is still subject to the results of medical examinations.
The free agent pitched for the Angels and Giants in 2021, playing a total of 29 games (63 IP) between the two ninths. However, he did a little better in San Francisco than during his first stop in California.
After signing with the Angels before the 2021 season, Quintana posted a 6.75 ERA in 24 games in LA before the Giants took him on waivers in late August. In San Francisco, he posted a 4.66 ERA in five games.
Quintana, who will be 33 by Opening Day 2022, has a 3.84 lifetime ERA in 10 seasons in the majors.
