Johnson & Johnson (J&J) will stop making and selling its baby powder worldwide from next year.

The announcement comes more than two years after the healthcare giant ended sales of the product in the United States.

J&J faces nearly 38,000 lawsuits from women who claim the product contained asbestos and caused them to develop ovarian cancer.

But the company reiterated its opinion that the product it is safe to use.
