ITU winner Ay, in his speech shared thousands of times by social media users, said:

“You start to learn what you question, what you learn can sometimes wake you from your sleep. I paid a heavy price for this. And now I want to share this burden with you. I spent the last year researching the root of violence against women in Turkey and producing a solution to it. And my dear friends, I can no longer follow the news. Because I know the problem. While he knows the solution and cannot apply this solution; I can’t get the blood of those dead women out of my hands. This is the price I paid for this road. But that doesn’t even compare to a price humanity pays.
