Although the interlocutor of Autonews.ru pointed to the possibility of local assembly of Isuzu SUVs in Ulyanovsk, annual sales of MU-X in the amount of eight thousand units still look unattainable.
The fact is that last year Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport together sold about five thousand copies, and the much cheaper UAZ Patriot found 13 thousand buyers. Given the prices for the Isuzu MU-X, absolute leadership in the segment is unlikely.
The undeveloped dealer network speaks against Isuzu – most of the 43 service centers specialize in servicing commercial models and cannot help owners of D-Max pickups or MU-X platform SUVs. The representative office of Isuzu considers it economically inexpedient to simply increase the number of car dealerships and are looking for a partner from “similar in spirit, but not competing companies.”
