Germany: Unvaccinated Kimmich has Corona

Joshua Kimmich from the German record champions Bayern Munich has tested positive for the corona virus. The Munich confirmed this on Wednesday evening. “The midfielder is fine,” the club wrote in a statement. As an unvaccinated contact person for someone infected with corona, the German international is in quarantine anyway and missed two games. On Wednesday afternoon, Bayern had already communicated Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s corona disease. Together with Kimmich, the striker belongs to a Bayern quintet that has not been vaccinated against Covid.

USA: Free with Seattle failed

For the Swiss goalkeeper Stefan Frei and the Seattle Sounders, the playoffs in the North American Major League Soccer (MLS) ended in the first round. Last year’s finalist lost to Real Salt Lake after a goalless 120 minutes in a penalty shootout. Seattle had dominated the game before, the guests from Utah did not record a single shot on goal. The Swiss had his hands on the decisive penalty from Real Salt Lake, but the ball hit the post and rolled into the goal from there. This means that Frei cannot win the MLS title with Seattle for the time being a third time after 2016 and 2019.
