Dhe Olbendorf Mayor Wolfgang Sodl (SPÖ) did not sufficiently inform the population after drinking water contamination in 2020 and therefore had to pay a fine of 75 euros.

The amount of 110 euros originally charged by the Güssing district authority was reduced by the state administrative court, the Greens said in a broadcast on Friday. They felt confirmed in their criticism of Sodl’s actions.

Dietmar Werderits, chairman of the Olbendorf-Greiner-Tulmen-Haxbach water cooperative, addressed the public together with the Greens in January 2022. He criticized the fact that Sodl had not sufficiently informed the population about contamination and reported him to the district authority.

This sentenced the mayor to pay 110 euros, but Sodl lodged a complaint. In a decision dated January 23, 2023, the state administrative court reduced the fine to 75 euros.

The mayor confirmed this decision to the APA, but was “surprised” that the Greens would report about it at this point in time, especially since the member of the state parliament Wolfgang Spitzmüller said that the story was over for him.
