Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said that the daily increase in coronavirus infections in the country quadrupled in January compared to December. It is reported by TASS.
“The omicron strain has become the dominant variant of the coronavirus,” he said. The country is also seeing a nearly 10 percent increase in the number of patients requiring medical care, he said.
“In previous periods of the pandemic, there were higher rates of hospitalization with fewer daily infections,” Koca said. He added that the omicron strain might reduce the danger of an epidemic.
At the end of November, the Turkish Ministry of Health requested permission from the National Medicines Agency for the emergency use of the Turkish coronavirus vaccine TURKOVAC. Another measure will be an increase in fixed additional payments to doctors from the budget of the republic.
