Looking back at one’s own childhood is often associated with very specific objects: food and sweets, toys, stuffed animals and cartoon characters. Some remember the coveted Indian and cowboy figures in the coffee, others remember “Wickie, Slime and Paiper”. This series of “Icons of Austria” presents a selection of Austrian success stories in the matter of “children’s happiness” – even if two of the three examples presented were actually created for adults. In the “Icons of Austria” series, objects are brought to life that have an iconic meaning for the history of the country. Whether important art objects or unspectacular everyday things: every object tells a story about itself and the people who used it.
