  • In a new interview, Heidi Klum (48) recalls her early days as a model.

  • At that time it was perceived as too curvy, she says.

  • She is all the more pleased about the change in the fashion world and welcomes the fact that labels such as “Vicotria’s Secret” focus on body positivity and diversity.

  • In an interview, the German top model also talks about her morning routine and her everyday life with four children.

A model competition in a show by talk show host Thomas Gottschalk (71) marked the start of her career in 1992. Heidi Klum then emigrated to the USA, and shortly afterwards she had her international breakthrough with the cover of “Sports Illustrated”.

That was almost 30 years ago. In a new interview with “BodyandSoul”, the 48-year-old German top model now remembers that early days and reflects on the changes that the fashion industry has made since then. “When I started in 1992, people said to me ‘Oh no, you’re way too curvy’. I was simply not thin enough for anyone, ”says Heidi.

At that time she was looked at as if she were an extraterrestrial. In addition, she was always very nervous, which was also noticed negatively.

Heidi Klum praises “Victoria’s Secret”

Today that is hardly conceivable any more, all women and men are accepted – “and I love that”. Heidi, who has been walking the catwalk for the underwear manufacturer for years, welcomes the fact that even “Victoria’s Secret” is relying on body positivity today. She is happy that the label is moving with the times and has understood “that there are so many different people out there who want nice things to wear”.

Today the fashion industry is looking for a “special person and no longer for 90/60/90 and 180 centimeters”.

Klum swears by healthy eating

Heidi herself pays a lot of attention to a healthy diet today in order to feel fit. Most of the time she cooks herself at home – “it is very important to know what you are eating”. Sufficient sleep is just as essential. “I have four children, I can’t live on four or five hours of sleep – I don’t know how certain people do it.”

Heidi’s days start early, usually at six in the morning. “I cuddle with my husband, then jump in the shower, wash my hair and start the day,” she says of her morning routine. Then they have breakfast and drive the children to school. “I’ll pick them up, bring them into sport. The days are always different. “

With the current record temperatures in Klum’s adopted home of Los Angeles, the top model also enjoys the sweet idleness – stark naked, as a recent post on her Instagram account shows. The black and white picture is causing a lot of excitement these days. And even has a prominent imitator: Michael “Bully” Herbig (53) recreated it and is celebrated online for his “Sunday pose by Heidi Klum”.
