Health Canada warning against a product for sexual performance

Health Canada urged the public not to use the herbal product “Herberex”, for the improvement of sexual performance, because it could present serious health risks.

Health Canada says it has carried out tests on this product which have revealed the presence of a pharmaceutical ingredient not declared on the label: nortadalafil, which can cause serious health risks.

“Nortadalafil is an unauthorized ingredient similar to tadalafil, a prescription erectile dysfunction drug that should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare practitioner,” the federal body said.

Thus, people who take any type of nitrate-based medication should not take any medication like tadalafil, as the interaction can lead to potentially fatal low blood pressure, it was pointed out.

People who suffer from heart problems are more likely to suffer from cardiovascular side effects such as heart attack, stroke, chest pain, high blood pressure, and arrhythmia. Headaches, flushing, indigestion, dizziness, blurred vision and hearing loss are also some of the possible side effects.

Health Canada has suspended the Herberex product license (NPN 80029339) and has already made seizures in three stores in Ontario and British Columbia.

“It is illegal for any person or business to sell this product in Canada,” Health Canada said.
