The very beginning of their mission literally got off to a bad start on Sunday. “Air Force Two”, which the Vice President was supposed to take on her three-day trip to Guatemala and Mexico, had to make an emergency landing shortly after take-off in Washington due to a breakdown. When he arrived in Guatemala City, protesters cursed Harris. “Kamala, go home” and “Trump has won” read their banners. There was also a chilled atmosphere at the subsequent meeting with Guatemala’s President Alejandro Giammattei, despite the American promise to help Guatemala fight the pandemic with vaccines and aid.
