GTA 5 was originally released on an autumn day in October in 2013 for Xbox 360 and PS3. Like many gamers back then, I went to my local video game store and picked up a physical copy. Years later I bought a desktop version. After all, I was eagerly waiting for it. In fact, I almost bought it twice more. For my Xbox One and PS5. I guess I wasn’t the only one with that GTA 5 sales figures gave a boost.
How many times has GTA 5 been bought so far? Take-Two’s latest financial data reveals this Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) has sold over 170 million copies to date. And in doing so, the action title from Rockstar Games has to admit defeat to another game: Minecraft.
While GTA 5 doesn’t stand a chance against Minecraft in terms of sales, and hopefully GTA 6 will soon follow — it’ll be years away — the title sold an additional 5 million copies in Take-Two’s most recent financial quarter. This could be due to the release of the third generation console port for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
GTA 5 sales hit another milestone!
While most of the sales happened shortly after release, there were definitely pastries that hadn’t sold as much since 2013. The game still enjoys great popularity, thanks in large part to the popular online mode that Rockstar Games even dropped the more recent Red Dead Online for.
You always seem to come back to Los Santos.
Vice City will have to wait. It’s considered the industry’s worst-kept secret, but everything points to a return to Vice City in the next Grand Theft Auto. However, it is currently not clear when GTA 6 will appear. If Rockstar keeps taking his time, then get on GTA 5 maybe this Sales milestone 200 million copies sold.
GTA 5 is available for Windows PC, PS5, PS4, PS3, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
