MDespite the sun shining in Athens, the Greek government is entering a zone of turbulence. The headwinds come… from international NGOs. They denounce the multiplication of obstacles to freedoms in the country. On July 14, Amnesty International publishes a harsh report demonstrating violations of the right to demonstrate, the use of arbitrary arrests, general bans, unjustified fines and the use of illegal force to limit peaceful demonstrations. In short, the NGO points to an authoritarian turn taken by the government led by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the leader of New Democracy (ND, right).
