A month before the market launch, we reveal all the key data that is already known about the Pixel Watch 2.
We’re not far from the new Pixel Watch 2, at the time of writing we only have a month to wait. Google even announced the event. It will take place in New York on October 4, 2023. For us it will be the perfect evening program again.
A few new details have come to light in the last few weeks, but the leaks are generally limited. So far there is only one picture that is not even clear whether it is really the Pixel Watch 2. However, the watch in the image, which primarily shows the Pixel 8 Pro, appears thinner than the first Pixel Watch.
Many innovations in the hardware
By listing it in the Google Play console, the company itself had already revealed important key technical data. This includes the main memory of 2 GB RAM. Also, the Snapdragon W5 chipset is confirmed. It’s much newer and more modern than the Exynos chip in the first Pixel Watch.
In its report on planned bracelets, the American FCC lists: “Plastic active strap”, “Metal mesh strap”, “Metal link strap” and “Metal slim strap”. The last bracelet on this list is completely new and the perforated silicone bracelet will also be new (next picture).
The innovations in other components are somewhat less specific. UWB could be there, but has not yet been finally confirmed. Google is also changing the screen supplier from BOE to Samsung. We hope that a higher quality display will be installed that offers more brightness and efficiency.
The battery may only get 4 percent larger, but that also means there’s no downsizing here. A newer display, a slightly larger battery and the latest chipset including Wear OS 4 all promise a significantly longer battery life.
Speaking of Wear OS 4, there’s a lot more to come. In addition to new watch faces, the update, pre-installed on the Pixel Watch 2 for the first time, brings a brand new phone change support and also the Watch Unlock, which has been known since January 2023.
