goodbye to an exclusive console feature

As the beta testing phase of the PS5 firmware continues with 1440p and Game List, Sony’s official support channels inform us that one of the exclusive features of the latest family of consoles from the Japanese tech giant is about to be shelved.

With a view to constantly updating the functions that can be used by PlayStation 5 users, the official support of the Japanese company heralds the imminent closure of a special social functionality promoted by Sony since the months preceding the launch of the console.

In the note just shared by Sony’s support on the PlayStation.com site we read in fact that “functionality in the fall of 2022 Acknowledgments it will no longer be supported on PlayStation 5, as it has not produced the level of use hoped for. We are therefore shifting our focus. We encourage the community to continue to send positive messages to each other “.

Originally designed to give users a way to relate and encourage players encountered in the multiplayer modes of some titles with special messages, the social tools related to the use of the PlayStation 5 Awards have gone virtually unnoticed: the low popularity of this function has therefore pushed Sony to decree its definitive abandonment to direct the efforts of its programmers towards other more important aspects of future PS5 system software updates. What do you think of Sony’s decision to cancel the Awards in the fall? Let us know with a comment.
