After the 4-0 victory in North Macedonia, Germany can no longer qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Hansi Flick’s team still struggled in the first half. Although the Germans are clearly the team that determines the game, they leave numerous good chances to score. After changing sides, it still works: Kai Havertz unties the knot in the 50th minute, before Timo Werner decides the game with a brace within four minutes (70th, 74th). Jamal Musiala puts the lid on shortly before the end.

With a win in Romania, Armenia could have preserved the theoretical chance to still dispute the Germans for 1st place in Group J of the World Cup qualifiers. But the Armenians lose 0: 1 and slide down to 4th place. With that, Germany has already been confirmed as first in the table and World Cup driver two game days before the end.

Flick sets Löw’s record

With the fifth win in the fifth game, Hansi Flick set the start record as national coach of his predecessor Joachim Löw. The two games thus degenerate towards the end against Liechtenstein, which is still without a win after a 4-0 draw in Iceland, and Armenia in November to test matches with a competitive nature.
