GeForce RTX 4000: rumors about power limits of 600 to 900 watts

The rumor mill agrees that the next generation of graphics cards for desktop PCs will consume more electrical power than before – both in AMD’s Radeon series RX 7000 and in Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4000. In Nvidia’s case, there is already specific information about the presumed to be used Graphics chips, memory components and power limits.

So reports about the Twitter member “kopite7kimi”that the first RTX 4000 squad should end up with a maximum of 600 watts. “kopite7kimi” has often been correct for rumors in the past. The GeForce RTX 4090 uses the largest GPU AD102 from the Ada Lovelace generation, Ada for short, and 24 GB of GDDR6X memory with a power consumption of 600 watts. The model would max out a single new PCIe power connector.

Nvidia is currently supposed to have an even more power-thirsty variant with a Test power limit of 900 watts and 48 GB of memory. However, it is questionable whether this will ever appear as a final product – for example as a GeForce RTX 4090 Ti or a new titanium edition.

Nvidia is said to have significantly more shader cores and larger caches in the Ada graphics chips than in the Ampere GPUs of the RTX 3000 series.
