Finance Minister Ricardo Bonilla said that the price of gasoline will continue to rise monthly for the next two years, with the aim of reducing the deficit of the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (FEPC).
“The best example that we want to maintain the fiscal rule is increasing the price of gasoline, the decision is painful, but we cannot return to the populism of the Duque government, which did not want to raise prices and left the deficit to us,” he pointed.
According to Bonilla, the 2022 deficit is still being paid,“The one for 2023 has not even begun to be paid. Which means that the price of gasoline will continue to increase for at least two years,”assured the Minister of Finance.
He pointed out that there was a gap with the international price of $4,700 for regular gasoline. Meanwhile, he maintained that the price of fuel has not yet been adjusted, because “behind it is the movement of cargo and passengers, what we try to do is weigh as little as possible on Colombians on foot and only arrive to Colombians who have a car”.
