Gare de l'Est: traffic still severely disrupted

The situation is still very complicated at the Gare de l’Est on Wednesday January 25. These disturbances are the consequence of the voluntary fire of the electric cables which occurred in Seine-et-Marne, Tuesday January 24.

Travelers having to go through the Gare de l’Est will have to take their troubles patiently on Wednesday January 25.

Traffic is still disrupted. On the Paris-Est and Meaux and Paris-Est and Château-Thierry axes, only one in two trains will run.

The SNCF has also specified that longer journey times are to be expected on line P. Journey times could last an additional 15 minutes. Other trains are simply deleted. This is the case for the lines joining Paris-Est at La Ferté-Milon.

A return to normal Thursday, January 26

A return to normal date has however been announced by the SNCF. “Traffic will return to normal on Thursday, January 26“, clarified the company. “Repair work on the facilities damaged by the arson has progressed well overnight and will continue on Wednesday“, also communicated the group.

The arson of 48 electric cables in the night from Monday to Tuesday is the cause of these numerous disturbances. Olivier Bancel, Executive Director of Maintenance and Operation Projects at SNCF Réseau, said that these cables were “very important for the operating system”. The Meaux prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for deliberate damage by fire and endangering others. The Meaux judicial police are in charge of the investigations.
