Four ads after riots on Lake Garda

After wild riots on Lake Garda on June 2nd, four people were reported for resisting the police and fighting.

The Verona prosecutor’s office launched two investigations: the first for molesting five girls on a train bound for Milan, the second for brawls and vandalism in the town of Peschiera del Garda, Italian media reported.

Expel rioters

Meanwhile, the Prefect of Verona, Donato Cafagna, convened a meeting of the Order and Security Committee on Thursday, which will also be attended by the mayors of the lakeside area and representatives of the regional railways. On Wednesday, Interior Minister Luciana Lamorgese said in Parliament in Rome that she wanted to monitor the situation better, even when potential rioters arrived at Lake Garda. More police officers are to be deployed in the bathing resorts on Lake Garda on summer weekends.

On June 2, Italy’s national holiday, around 2,000 young people from several cities in northern Italy reportedly gathered for a flash mob at Peschiera on Lake Garda, which is popular with tourists. The situation escalated: there were fights with injuries and thefts. Tourists were harassed, cars and shop windows were demolished. The incidents in the town, when some drunk young people attacked each other, jumped on car roofs and later sexually molested women on a train, have been occupying politicians for two weeks.

More on this:

According to their own statements, some underage women were harassed and sexually molested by young men in a completely overcrowded regional train. They were able to leave the train early. Five 16-year-old girls have now filed a complaint. The public prosecutor’s office in Verona is now investigating possible suspects.
