Dr Helmut Marko has dismissed growing rumors that Pierre Gasly may seek to leave Red Bull for lack of a chance to re-enter the main team despite his excellent results. Some speculations link it to a possible future in blue, at Alpine.
The AlphaTauri driver must therefore be patient in his current team, which remains very competitive and allows him to sign excellent results. Like his victory at Monza in 2020 or his recent podium in Baku.
“The package fits him perfectly at AlphaTauri. The suit goes well together,” comments Marko about these exit rumors.
“We still have a contract that lasts another two years so I don’t know where the blabla about Renault (Alpine) comes from. Pierre is also the ideal ambassador for AlphaTauri, he’s a fashionable Frenchman.”
“But above all, his performance in the car is really good. He had a good result in Baku. The fact that he kept Leclerc behind him there was a great achievement.”
As for Gasly’s teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, Marko is waiting to see what Franz Tost’s daily supervision will do on the Japanese.
“With more experience he should get better and better. I expect points from him regularly in the second half of the season.”
And if there are any new vacancies at Red Bull, Marko says there are again enough young talent in the making to fill them.
“We have a big pool of drivers. You wrote that we don’t have any youngsters, but (Juri) Vips wins in Formula 2 if the car allows it and (Liam) Lawson is there too. talents from our own ranks who can drive for Red Bull. “
