18 dead after house collapse – including two children
The desperate search for people buried after the collapse of a large apartment building in the small town of Surfside near Miami continues. For the time being, there are still only sad finds.
After the partial collapse of a twelve-story apartment building in the US state of Florida, the number of recovered fatalities has risen again.
Two more victims were found in the rubble, said the mayor of Miami-Dade district, Daniella Levine Cava, at the crash site in Surfside near Miami. The number of deaths has increased to 18 – including two children between the ages of four and ten. Almost 150 people are still missing, according to Levine Cava.
The building close to the beach with around 130 residential units had partially collapsed last week on Thursday night for an unexplained cause. The misfortune surprised people in their sleep. A desperate search for survivors has been going on ever since.
