Istanbul The Turkish electric car producer TOGG has taken an important step towards series production. The first test cars have rolled off the assembly line, confirms CEO Gürcan Karakas to the Handelsblatt. During the so-called manufacturing try-out, the operating processes of the newly built factory near Istanbul are being tested.

“By the beginning of November we will have perfected the processes and then freeze them in this form,” explains Karakas. “Then we will have our production facility ready for series production.” The electric SUV is scheduled to come onto the market at the end of the first quarter of 2023, after completion of the technical qualification and certification tests with a view to European standards.

The Turkish electric car is one of the most ambitious projects in the automotive industry in recent years. In the shadow of severe economic turbulence in Turkey, CEO Karakas has developed a model within two years that could catapult the Turkish manufacturer into the league of major car manufacturers.
