Atletico Madrid’s chances of agreeing a deal for Liverpool star Roberto Firmino could be affected by worldwide interest in the Brazilian.

The Rojiblancos have been linked with the veteran striker’s possible free transfer, should Joao Felix be transferred before the 2023/24 season.

Diego Simeone is ready to let Felix join Chelsea on a permanent basis at the end of the current season, with the Blues having been impressed with his debut at Stamford Bridge.

Should Felix leave the Spanish capital, Simeone will be on the hunt for a replacement, with Firmino offering an experienced option.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted frustration at trying to secure fan favorite Firmino on a 12-month extension at Anfield, with the former Hoffenheim star looking for a bigger role in the first team.

Atletico aren’t the only team interested in Firmino, as Ben Jacobs states in his Caught Offside transfer column. Offers are expected from MLS and potentially from Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s club.
