There is a lot of smoke in photos of the incident. Firefighters used a large fan to expel smoke from the property. By 7 a.m., the smoke had cleared and guests were able to return to their hotel rooms. Residents of neighboring homes also had to leave their homes. The fire brigade is looking to see if they can also return.

Due to fire trucks and fire hoses on the tram track, the surrounding tram traffic was briefly blocked. Bus and tram traffic is now running again.

An investigation is required to determine what may have started the fire in the basement.
