Egypt won an important victory over its host Libya today, Monday, with a 3-0 win, in the fourth round of African qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

A second successive victory over the Libyan national team raised the Pharaohs’ tally to 10 points at the top of the group.

What does the Egyptian national team need to qualify for the final stage of the World Cup qualifiers?

The group standings after the end of the fourth round are as follows:

Egypt 10 points.. +5 goals

Libya 6 points.. – 2 goals

Gabon 4 points..-goal

Angola 3 points – 2 goals

Angola has already exited the qualifiers, as the maximum balance it can reach is only nine points.

In the next international break in November, Egypt will travel to meet Angola and then host Gabon.

While the Libyan national team travels to meet Gabon outside its land, and faces Angola at its home in the last round.

Thus, the maximum balance that the Libyan team can reach is 12 points, and accordingly, the Egyptian team is sufficient to obtain three points from the last two rounds.


FIFA regulations state that in the event of two teams being equal, goal difference is used in general, then goals scored in general, then direct confrontations, then goal difference in direct confrontations between the two equal teams, then goals scored between equal teams, and goals scored Away from the ground between the equal teams.

Accordingly, the Egyptian team needs to win one of two matches in order to qualify for the final stage.

As for the event of a tie in the last two matches with Libya winning in the two matches, the aforementioned regulations will be considered.
