FGR must respond to 'La Reina' about policies

Mexico City /

A federal judge granted a final suspension to Sandra Ávila Beltrán, The Queen of the Pacificresolution that orders the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) to respond to a letter submitted by the complainant regarding her request to lift the insurance of three life insurance policies within 48 hours.

Julio Veredin Sena Velazquez, seventh District Judge of Amparo in Criminal Matters, granted said precautionary measure; however, the FGR can still challenge.

According to judicial records, at the beginning of this litigation, the FGR challenged the provisional suspension granted to Sandra Avila Beltran, but the tenth Collegiate Court in Criminal Matters declared the allegations unfounded.

The Public Ministry agent attached to the Specialized Unit for the Investigation of Operations with Resources of Illicit Origin and Counterfeiting or Alteration of Currency disagreed because the judge ordered them to reply to the brief presented in March within a period of no more than 48 hours.

The FGR assured that it was inappropriate to grant said measure, because the objective was to paralyze and stop the action of the responsible authority while the amparo is being processed.

“It should have been taken into account that the complaining party requested the suspension of the act so that this authority refrains from transferring or disposing of the resources contained in the policies to which it refers, until the dispute is resolved, not to that a pronouncement be issued regarding the aforementioned document,” argued the FGR.

However, the Federal Court stated that the prosecution is not right, because the judge’s decision does not contravene the provisions of article 131 of the Amparo Law.
