After the collision between two ships Thursday evening, the two captains of the boats, aged 27 and 32, were brought to justice this Saturday, August 6 and presented to an investigating judge.
The magistrate issued an indictment against the two men, aged 27 and 32.
The first, whose boat carrying eight passengers sank, was indicted for manslaughter. He was left free, under judicial supervision with a ban on piloting a nautical device while the judicial investigation was under way.
The same decision was taken for the second, professional fisherman and organizer of nautical excursions, who had recovered on his boat seven of the eight passengers who fell into the water on the evening of the incident.
The investigations will continue to determine the precise circumstances of this accident and the responsibility of each in this collision, which occurred on the sidelines of the Tour de Martinique des Yoles rondes.
Friday, in a press release, the prosecutor noted that the two captains “showed signs of alcoholic impregnation” and had been placed in police custody.
