F1 – Official: Alpine team broke curfew in Baku | F1only.fr

The Alpine team broke the curfew on Friday night in Baku in order to change a part on the gearbox of Esteban Ocon’s single-seater.

FIA seal broken on French driver’s A521 gearbox to allow mechanics to change the hydraulic actuator of the differential clutch unit.

This was done in accordance with article 9.5.2 of the Formula 1 2021 technical regulations. Last night, the staff of the Alpine F1 Team, who are associated with the operation of the number 31 car, were in the limits of the circuit during the period under curfew, which is prohibited by regulations.

However, each team benefits from two “jokers” per season and the Alpine team therefore used their first wild card this Friday in Baku. There will therefore be no penalty for the team of the French manufacturer.

The start of the Azerbaijani Grand Prix this Sunday, June 6 will be given at 2:00 p.m. and the race can be followed live on F1only.fr (click here to access the live).
