The week-long absence of the Norwegian is a shock for all Dortmunders. But now it sounds like it could be a lot longer before the striker is back on the field.
Is everything much worse?
Last week, BVB coach Marco Rose announced that Top striker Erling Haaland of the team “several weeks” are missing will. “He has a hip flexor injury that makes it impossible for him to play,” said Rose before the away game at Arminia Bielefeld last Saturday.

But now Jan Aage Fjörtoft, a close friend of the Haaland family, said on Norwegian television: “It is possible that the Ajax game (last Tuesday) may have been the last game for him this year.” So much worse?
At the 0: 4 against Ajax Amsterdam on Wednesday Haaland had played for over 90 minutes in the Champions League. The attacker, who currently leads the Bundesliga scorers list with nine goals tied with Robert Lewandowski, reacted fiercely. “Time to focus on recovery. I will return stronger,” he wrote on social media.
The 21-year-old had recently missed three competitive games due to a severe thigh contusion, but returned to the starting line-up in mid-October. The same thigh is now causing problems again. Rose did not want to judge whether it was a consequential injury: “I’m not a doctor.”
Immediately after the diagnosis, Haaland reacted disappointed, so Rose. “It’s not good for us and not nice for the boy. Erling was really down yesterday. He was happy that he was back. After the game against Mainz, he had no problems,” said the BVB coach, who was in charge of the team Sturm also has to do without Youssoufa Moukoko: “It will be very thin offensive now.”
