On August 29, Embraer celebrated its C-390 Millennium Day in New Delhi, which brought together the main private and public entities of the Indian aerospace and defense industry.

The event provided information on Embraer’s efforts to support the Government of India initiative “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.

“The event was a great platform to deepen engagement with industry players as we strengthen the case for the C-390 Millennium for India,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense and Security. “The vibrant discussions have paved the way for us to carve out a unique proposal for India and the Indian Air Force.”

Earlier this year, the Indian Air Force issued an Information Request for a new fleet of Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) to which Embraer has responded, offering the C-390 Millennium as the platform of choice.
The C-390 Millennium was on display at AeroIndia in February 2023, where guests toured this modern military tactical transport aircraft. Its multi-mission platform offers unmatched mobility, combining high productivity and operational flexibility with low operating costs, making it an unbeatable combination.

“The C-390 can carry more payload (26 tons) compared to other military medium-sized cargo aircraft and flies faster 870 km/h and farther, being capable of performing a wide range of missions such as transport and launch. cargo and troop cargo, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian missions, operating on temporary or unpaved runways such as compacted earth, dirt, and gravel. In its refueling version, the aircraft has already demonstrated its aerial refueling capability, as well as that of an aircraft receiving fuel from another KC-390 via underwing pods. It is the only aircraft in the world in the segment that carries out an operation of this type” they highlight from Embraer DS and add “Since it entered into operation with the FAB in 2019, the C-390 has demonstrated its capacity, reliability and performance. The current fleet of six aircraft, all in the aerial refueling version, designated the KC-390, has already accumulated more than 9,500 flight hours. Recent figures show an operational readiness of around 80%, with a mission completion rate of over 99%, demonstrating exceptional productivity in the category. The C-390 Millennium has orders from Portugal and Hungary, both NATO member countries. The Netherlands, also a member of NATO, selected the C-390 Millennium in 2022.
