Eight-time Turkish international Çalik (27) dies in traffic accident

Turkish international Ahmet Çalik has been killed in a traffic accident. The central defender (27) was also a basic player at Konyaspor, which is second in the Süper Lig.

Çalik went through all of his country’s youth squads and was called up to the national team 19 times. He actually came into action eight times. Çalik was part of the Turkish squad during the 2016 European Championship, but did not get to play that tournament. A year later, he made a million-dollar transfer to Galatasaray.

The Turkish football world is shocked at the death of the player, who was also active for Gençlerbirligi. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our footballer Ahmet Çalik, who has captured the hearts of our fans and city since the first day he was with Konyaspor,” his latest club said.
