It is well known, things can go very quickly in football. Edouard Mendy is experiencing this. Voted best goalkeeper of the year by FIFA in 2021, the Chelsea goalkeeper has now been on the bench for the London team since Graham Potter took over from Thomas Tuchel. And things are not going well since according to the English press, it is now the exit door that is shown to the Senegalese international.
In his desire to change everything, the owner of the club, Todd Boehly, would therefore have the idea of separating from the former Stade Rennais. This is what affirms this Sunday the Mirror by explaining that after the pharaonic expenses carried out these last months on the side of the Blues, it’s time to bail out the coffers. Edouard Mendy still has eighteen months of contract with Chelsea, but his management would therefore like to part with him to recover cash.
Sport Inconclusive strategy
The twenty-eight-year-old player is not the only one to be pushed into the London cart since no less than eleven other players would be concerned, including a Raheem Sterling who was recruited last summer at a hefty price. So Todd Boehly’s strategy remains a mystery with astonishing choices and spending. On the ground, it is not paying off for the moment since Chelsea vegetates in the middle of the Premier League table (10th) and even has little chance of finishing in European places. Unless he surprises everyone again, he who is still qualified in the Champions League.
