The tremors were felt across the island. Rail traffic was also affected: 17 trains with 2,680 passengers were stopped or slowed down, the CNA news agency reported.

No damage or injuries were reported, but seismologists were concerned about the frequency of strong earthquakes. It was the fifth earthquake with a magnitude of more than 6 this year. “There are more earthquakes this year than usual,” said Chen Kuo-chang of the earthquake center’s analysis center.
